How will your university benefit?

Recycling can be a fundraiser for your school.  Many states offer a cash reward for things such as aluminum cans.  Old books, textbooks, clothes and electronics can also be sold or donated on behalf of the university.  Getting organizations such as academic organizations and Greek life involved will allow your students to get the volunteer hours they need while benefiting the university.  Recycling also allows the university to be a part of the community by donating things that can be reused to those in need.  In addition, the waste produced by your university should decrease, leading to less spending on sanitation services.

How will everyone

benefit?

Economic Benefits

The recycling industry can create lots of jobs for general public.  These jobs include things such as drivers, sorters, maintenance workers, facility managers and sales representatives.  The chart to the left shows how many jobs have been created due to various types of recyclable materials.
